Adams State’s both women’s and men’s lacrosse teams played at their home field this past weekend.
The men’s team defeated Notre Dame de Nemur gaining their third straight win on Friday. After two scoreless minutes in the first half, Notre Dame de Nemur’s Jordan Wagner scored to give the Agros the lead, but sophomore Bryden Pelletier and freshman Josh Peterman quickly added two goals to the Grizzly board.
Freshman Jacob Moberly also added two goals for the Grizzlies while Pelletier and Peterman also scored twice. At the end of the game, eight different grizzlies had added at least one point for their team.
Goalie Ronnie Fernando had six saves and six goals allowed, and the Grizzlies ended the game winning 12 to 6.
The men continued on Sunday to play against Lindenwood, but fell short 12 to 9.
Freshman Parker Smith quickly gave the Grizzlies the lead 2 to 0 in the first opening minutes of the game, but the Lions didn’t give up.
After adding three more goals to the Grizzly tally, the Lions’ goalies were switched out. The Lions then came out with fire coming back within one.
Moberly and Peterman then brought the Grizzlies up from behind when each scored one goal to make the score seven to six.
But the Lions went on a 4 to 0 run leaving the Grizzlies scoreless until Kevin Bertrand ended their run with a goal. Trevis Thompson brought the game back within one with two minutes left, but the Lions came out on top scoring two more goals.
Greg Cameron and McNein Hewitt lead the Lions with three goals each while Carter McCracken racked in two. Lindenwood also had four men score one goal against the Grizzlies. Josh Peterman, Parker Smith, and Kevin Bertrand led Adams State with 2 goals a piece. Other Grizzlies that scored include Jake Moberly, Trevis Thompson, and Jake Buescher.
The Lions defeated the Grizzlies in assists 10 to 5.
Fernando ended up finishing the game with eleven saves.
The women’s team went against Regis on Saturday at the ASC field, but fell 14 to 2.
Redshirt Freshman Midfielder Lexy Hamilton was the only Grizzly to score any goals in the entire game.
Freshman Goalie Danika Kristiansen had seven saves while Regis’ goalie Gianna Lombardi had 2.
Regis, ranked number two in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, had six rangers score. Morgan Taylor, Hilary Duda, Danica Cutshell and Kelsey O’Conner all added three goals while Jessika Carlstrom scored once. Leading the Rangers’ assists was Erin Dybus and Morgan Taylor both with two.
Regis out-assisted ASC 8 to 0.
Both teams have their next games at home. The men go on to play Dominican on April 5th at 7 p.m., and the women take on Mesa this Saturday at 1 p.m.
