The Adams State women’s lacrosse team hosted the Air Force women’s club lacrosse squad on Sunday afternoon at the ASC Lacrosse Field, where the Grizzlies hung on after grabbing a 6-1 lead to claim an 8-7 victory.
The Grizzlies received great play in the net in the first half from freshman Danica Kristiansen (Lake Forest, Calif.), who made six first half saves en route to 10 in the game.
Sophomore Amanda Hisel (Conifer, Colo.) accounted for three ASC goals, all in the first half.
ASC put up its first four of the game in a 14 minute span in the first, after junior LiErin Wilson (Silverton, Colo.) started the scoring at the 25:57 mark. Hisel added on to that at the 21:31 mark, and freshmen Amanda Morgan (Gypsum, Colo.) and Mc Kinna Krieghoff (Lake Forest, Calif.) scored at 17:27 and 11:54, respectively.
Air Force got on the board for the first time with 5:23 to play, but Hisel found the net for the third time with three minutes left in the half to give ASC a five goal lead at the break.
Sophomore Lexy Hamilton (Monte Vista, Colo.) and Morgan each scored for ASC in the second half, but the Falcons threw everything they had at the Grizzlies, and scored the final four goals of the game to make it a close one.
The Falcons scored three goals on free position shots, while two of the Grizzlies came in the same manner. Hamilton, Wilson and redshirt-freshman Tessa Diaz (Eugene, Ore.) each tallied one assist for Adams State.
ASC’s first two WILA games will be on the road, against the Mavericks on March 2 and at Regis on March 10.
