This year, with College Professors, Dr. Leslie Alvarez and Dr. Robert Demski, ASC students will travel to Turkey and Greece for 12 days of cultural experiences from a psychological perspective from June 9 to June 20 of this year.
This trip is for the students of Adams State College as well as for the community members. During this trip, each person will explore the ruins of Greece, the Grand Bazar of Istanbul, the city of Troy, a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary, A Greek Style Cruise to see the Greek Islands, and much, much more. Dr. Alvarez, one of the Psychology professor’s at Adams State said, “I believe that this trip will be an experience that anyone who comes will treasure for a long time. Because studying abroad is a life changing experience.”
Taking in the sights are part of the trip to both Turkey and Greece. Throughout the trip, each participant will be able to take pictures to share with their friends and family when they get back the United States. There are optional choices for the participants for an extra cost, including, a trip to Delphi, a cruise through the Bosphorus Straits, and much more. This trip will be a great experience for the participants because not only will they see what different cultures and religious systems there are, but they can experience different students from different colleges as well. During the trip, each participant will be roomed with two to three others in the hotels.
There will be some free time during this trip for everyone to take in the experience and to see what life is like across the ocean and to get some insight to how different the cultures are. Dr. Alvarez also said, “I believe that the participants will enjoy this trip because just the mere experience of the different cultures and languages of Turkey and Greece are breathe taking to see what they are like.”
Along with the trip, there is a 400 level pass/fail class that is available to a variety of majors at the college as well as the community members. This course is currently called, Cultures of the Mediterranean.
For just a little under $4,000, the trip includes most meals, all transportation, hotel costs, and the Tour Directors. There is a payment plan that can split the price into monthly payments. There is a limit of 15 people who will be able to go and so far, there are nine people signed up. The deadline is February 20. E-mail Dr. Leslie Alvarez at Adams State College. with questions or to sign up for the program.
