Dr. William Lipke’s, Adams State College professor of music, faculty piano recital begins at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Leon Recital Hall. The program will include music of Chopin, Schumann, and others.
Lipke has performed with musicians of international stature such as the Ying Quartet (four different seasons) and international opera baritone Håkan Hagegård. He has performed at the World Piano Conference in Europe and recently performed on a recital series and given a radio interview in St. Petersburg, Russia. His appearances with orchestra include the Liszt Concerto in A Major and have been broadcast on public radio. He has given numerous presentations at state, national and international conventions. Lipke holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His early teacher was a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, and he first appeared as a concerto soloist with a youth orchestra at the age of twelve. He studied privately or in master classes with Ozan Marsh (a pupil of Liszt protégés Emil von Sauer and Egon Petri, Horowitz and Rachmaninoff), Menahem Pressler and chamber music with the LaSalle Quartet and Dorothy Delay. One of his students performed as a soloist with the Honolulu Symphony.
