Alamosa—On October 15 and 16 The National Theatre of the Deaf will be bringing their touring show, “Tree Wise”, to Adam State’s Main Stage. “This show is a family-friendly production created for both deaf and hearing audiences,” said John Taylor, associate professor of theatre.
The National Theatre of the Deaf began in 1967. It was originally created for the deaf and by the deaf. NTD is the oldest continually producing touring professional theatre company in the United States, and has performed over seven thousand times. The theatre company now is stationed on the American School for the Deaf campus in West Hartford, Connecticut.
“Tree Wise” tells the story of young girl who has Deaf parents and has made a girlfriend at school. Through the help of a very special tree, the girl learns how to help her new friend and classmates understand more about Deaf Culture. Through games the tree teaches sign language to everyone involved, including the audience.
Tickets are free to AS&F and $5 dollars to the general public. Call the Adams State College box office at 719-587-8499 for tickets. Tickets are still available.
