Women’s LAX To Host Ovarian Cancer Benefit Game

The Adams State Women’s Lacrosse team is set to host an Ovarian Cancer Benefit game on Friday, April 10. The game will be a special night game slated to begin at 7 p.m. in Rex Stadium at Adams State. All Adams State students can get into the game for free and general admission for all others is $5. The team will be selling merchandise will all proceeds benefitting the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance and Shantelle White Thomas.

Shantelle Thomas is the cousin of Heather Jones, a senior on Adams State’s lacrosse team. Thomas has battled severe adversity after being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  According to the American Cancer Society, ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer-related deaths among women and is the most deadly cancer of the female reproductive system. About 14,180 women will die from ovarian cancer in 2015 alone.

Come out on Friday night to support the Grizzlies and also give money to a strong woman and a worthy cause. The Grizzlies face the Westminster College Griffins, with Adams State still hunting for their first win of the season.
