The United States Air Force Academy Band performed a live concert last Saturday night in Leon Recital Hall. The Stellar Brass ensemble performed a “Day of Brass,” featuring music from a number of different styles, including folk, orchestral, Dixie, and many others.

The concert transformed right before the audience’s eye.  The performance went through a series of different backgrounds coinciding with their particular music style.

The ensemble consists of seven, world renowned performers.  Master Sergeant Gary Poffenbarger acts as the group leader while also contributing on the tuba. The ensemble features two trumpets, a French horn, trombone, and percussion instrument. Together, they have performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in America.

The Stellar Brass ensemble is only one of the ten the USAF Academy Band has to offer. The Band strives, not only to provide and enhance cadet morale, but also to increase the public’s awareness of the Air Force and to strengthen their reputation within the community, according to their mission statement. They hope to build on the foundation of a well respected professional organization.

Dates of upcoming performances can be found on their website, www.usafacdemyband.af.mil. All Academy Band performances are free of charge and open to the public.
