The Poet’s Duty is First Faculty Lecture for Spring Semester

ALAMOSA (February 20) – The Adams State University first spring 2015 Faculty Lecture “Four Homes of Poetry: The Poet’s Duty,” by Aaron Abeyta, professor of English, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Porter Hall room 130.

The lecture will focus on the Four Homes of Chicana/o Poetry and the poet’s responsibility to the Historical, Mythological, Archetypal, and the Cultural concepts and depictions of home and what home means. The crossover from one home to the other is often seamless and without borders; the poet/writer must always, it seems, address all of them in order for the poem to be complete and the message to be heard and understood.

All talks are free and the public is invited. Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. For further information on the series of lectures, contact Dr. Kristy Duran, assistant professor of biology, at 719-587-7767, or by email: klduran@adams.edu.
