ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State University opens brand new coffee shop located on campus.

On the southside of McDaniels building on the first floor resides the newly launched “Grizzly Roast:” a student-run establishment, provided by the generous Counselor Education Department who wanted to give back to the institution by utilizing the equipment that would have stayed unused during the school year. Dr. Mark Manzanares, GS CE Professor, in the Counselor Education Department, pitched the idea in hopes of aiding the students attending ASU by having “a niche for people who walk in the building.”

All profits gained from the Grizzly Roast will be going back into the Capital Construction fee of $80+ that each student has to pay for attending the institution. Manzanares believes “it is a “WIN-WIN because it gives money back to the students while lowering the construction fee.”

The Grizzly Roast will of course sell coffee but will feature other items as well including smoothies, iced beverages, and selected bakery items. Hours of operation are from 7:30am – 6:30pm Monday thru Friday, but times are subject to change due to evening classes’ starting times. The Grizzly Roast will only accept a Debit or Credit Card in hopes of preventing theft of money obtained.

The Training and employee handling was done by none other than Blessed Brews, located next to City Market. “The training was phenomenal because of Blessed Brews,” said Manzanares. “Without them, this might not have been possible. They have been great consultants.”

Grizzly Roast will do their best diligence to have promotions and sales whenever is best suitable for students as another way of giving back.
