Renovation of The Purple Pig

Adams State students and the city of Alamosa celebrate the return of the newly-renovated Purple Pig Pizzeria and Pub. The Purple Pig was once known simply as a bar that featured a live DJ: a spot that college students would go to have fun on the weekends. Now, it kicks off the new year as a pizzeria and pub! It has transformed from a simple place to grab drinks to a full-on family-friendly restaurant. Their hours have changed to be opened from 11AM to 11PM. “The Purple Pig used to have health code conditions and a bad reputation. It has been under construction, but now renovated into a pizza place that seems like something I would want to try,” said senior Sarah Patterson.

So far, locals have been satisfied with the new restaurant because it provides another food spot to enjoy in Alamosa, especially with so many places closing down this year. The Purple Pig features a number of food items other than just pizza. They have a number of different sandwiches that have received good reviews so far, as well as pastas, calzones, and salad for some healthier options. All of the food is very affordable and includes a great atmosphere. The Pub provides a good spot to watch any big games because it has five big screen televisions.  The students are definitely excited for the newly revamped Purple Pig to have a different experience from what they knew from the past. “The [previous] Purple Pig was a pretty cool place. It was a really small venue, and it was constantly packed. But I am excited for the new direction they are taking,” said senior Kenny Hughes.
