Cathy Heaton
Cathy Heaton, also known as Professor Heaton on campus, is 51 years old and has been an English professor here at Adams since 2008. She is a wife and a mother to her two children who also attend Adams. Professor Heaton was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has lived in other parts of the country like Boston and New Hampshire. However Professor Heaton was raised in Castle Rock, Colorado. Once she graduated high school she then attended the University of Denver, where she earned her secondary English degree to teach high school. Professor Heaton chose to become a teacher because she loves to watch students grow and improve. Professor Heaton began teaching in 1985 and taught at five different high schools throughout Denver and Alamosa and has been teaching for over 20 years. Professor Heaton enjoys Adams because of the variety of students and the different backgrounds they came from. Professor Heaton’s hobbies are reading and gardening. Her plans for after teaching are to become more adventurous, travel, and to spend more time with family. There you have it Grizzlies, the character of Professor Heaton!
Zenobia Sims
Zenobia Sims, also known as “Z” on campus, is 21 years old and a senior track athlete here at Adams. Zenobia Sims was born in North Carolina and raised in southern Arizona. She is an older sister to her two younger brothers who attend West Point and Arizona University. Zenobia is a government major and chose to become a government major due to the lack of math that is incorporated. Correspondingly Zenobia Sims wants to educate herself and be constructive among communities as well as become a respectable example amongst others in the community. She decided on Adams State University because she wanted to explore beautiful Colorado, along with competing in tack. Zenobia Sims hobbies include rock climbing, hiking, and snowboarding. Her overall dream is to own her own martial arts studio and to watch her students become strong leaders and active community members. So there you have it! Among you Grizzlies is the Character of “Z,” and she’s preparing herself here at Adams State for a voice in the government community along with preparing to make her martial arts dream come true.
