Feeling lonely? Rent a Man for Valentine’s Day

I have to say, this took me off guard! I was browsing the news when I saw an ad for a Valentine’s Day date! That’s right! Ladies, you can now “rent a man!”
You can now pay a man to give you the time of day! I’m not sure if this is insulting or genius! So I decided to do a little more research and see exactly what this is.
As I read through the article and looked at the website, I saw you can rent the guy for a lot of different things, not just to take you on a date for Valentine’s Day.  These guys have a number of different talents ranging anywhere from artists, dancers, chefs, language teachers, and handymen! Basically anything your heart desires; you can find a man! The prices, however, are a bit much- so I’d bet this isn’t very realistic for any of us.
I guess a lot of women have turned to the site for help. Single moms can get a man to help with projects around the house. Some moms have hired men to just clean the house for her. Others have used the men for bachelorette parties. However, the site says “the men are NOT an escort service and sexy time isn’t part of the package.” This begs the question of how much will it cost before it turns into an escort service, maybe not up front, but on the side.
Some women were really excited about this new opportunity saying they’d send him to do the grocery shopping, take out the trash, and rub her back for hours.
Other women find it repulsive “I can’t think of a single reason to just hire some dude, I can take care of myself!” While it may have its high and low points, it seems you can sell just about ANYTHING online these days; it was only a matter of time.
This site reminds me of sites like sugar daddy and Craigs List. The site says it’s different and only hires men they’ve received background checks on; we’ve heard that before
I’d guard against this! To me it seems like a money scam; people send money and the guy never shows up- then what? I’d also be concerned because I don’t personally know any of these men. If I invited him to my house, who’s to say he doesn’t rob me for everything I’ve got! This seems like another way to let your guard down and wind up with a heap of problems.
If you’re looking for a date, I would try speed dating or ask a friend to set you up with someone they know. You may not realize it, but I’m sure there are plenty of guys interested in you but they are too shy to say anything, or maybe you are too shy to approach them?
If you really need help around the house, or what have you, I’d reach out to friends first!
