Athlete of the Week: September 30

Adams State College junior golfer Kelsey McSpadden, has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com/Paw Print Athlete of the Week for week ending on Sept. 26.
McSpadden recorded her seventh career top 10 finish moving into second place in the Grizzlies’ all-time history in that category as she finished both rounds with a score of 81 at the RMAC #2/Maverick Invitational.  McSpadden’s two day total of 162 was a three shot improvement over her former career-best turned in at the season-opening Grizzly Invitational and led the Grizzlies to a solid tie for fi fth place finish overall and a tie for fourth amongst RMAC teams.
The ASCGrizzlies.com/Paw Print Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
McSpadden and volleyball player Dominique Davis were battling close for the top honor. Davis got five of the number one votes from the administrators and media members. Despite that, McSpadden won the online vote with 40 percent of the 135 votes casted online. Davis only nabbed 17.6 percent of the votes. In addition to beating out Davis, McSpadden beat out Rocco DeLorenzo of the football team, Isaac Pacheco of the men’s golf program and Davis Powers of the men’s soccer team.
