Athlete of the Week February 4: Aaron Braun

Adams State College senior distance track athlete, Aaron Braun has been named as the February 4th ASCGrizzlies.com and The Paw Print Athlete of the Week after he ran the eighth fastest 3,000-meter time in the world this year. He lead a group of three Grizzlies who all went under a 20-year-plus old school record at the Washington Invitational held Saturday at the huskies’ Dempsey Indoor Track.

Braun, who posted a time of 7 minutes, 51.68 seconds, finished third in the Elite section of the event absolutely smashed the former school record of 8:06 by nearly 15 seconds.

Teammate Brian Medigovich finished just behind in fifth place with a time of 7:55.90, which is the 16th fastest time in the world this year, while Grizzly senior Luck Cragg was also in the race finishing 12th in 8:05.91, also under the former school record.

The ASCGrizzlies.com and The Paw Print Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.

A new poll will be posted each Sunday night after all of the Grizzly teams have concluded their competition for the weekend. The votes will be tabulated each Wednesday, when the Athlete of the Week will be announced.
