Athlete of the Week: February 3

After scoring the most points of any women’s basketball player since the 1987-1988 seasons, Autumn Boyer (South Sioux City, Neb.) has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 30.
Boyer, who is the first ever junior varsity player to ever be named ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week, scored 40 points while nabbing 11 rebounds in Friday’s 86-71 win over Trinidad State JC.
Boyer, who had three assists,  had five steals and was 15 of 18 from the line and 11 of the 15 from the field, including 3 of 3 on 3-pointers.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Boyer won the overall award by one point as she nabbed two of the media and administrator votes and nabbed 61.8 percent of the 89 votes that were cast online. Men’s basketball player Deray Wilson finished in second place as he got three first place votes while only getting 10.1 percent of the online votes.
Other nominees were Calvin Fletcher of the men’s indoor track team, Kenny Jordan of the wrestling, Kelsie Kruger of the women’s basketball team Brandon Lutz of the junior varsity men’s basketball team, and Indira Spence of the women’s indoor track team.
