DENVER, Colo. – Sophomore Lexy Hamilton (Monte Vista, Colo.) scored two goals for the ASC women’s lacrosse team on Saturday, but Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) rival Regis scored 11 in the first half and ran away with a 21-3 win over the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies fall to 0-2 this season overall and in WILA play with the loss, while the Rangers improve to 2-0 in the league and up their mark to 3-3 overall.
Hamilton accounted for the Grizzlies first goal of the game with 24 minutes, 13 seconds remaining in the first half to cut the Rangers lead to 3-1.
But RU would reel off five unanswered goals to extend the margin to 8-1 before sophomore LiErin Wilson (Silverton, Colo.) scored her only goal of the game and fifth of the season.
The Grizzlies’ final goal came from Hamilton with just 5:16 left in the contest. All three ASC goals were unassisted.
Morgan Taylor led the Rangers with six goals in the game to go along with a pair of assists, while Erin Dybus, Sierra Perrella and Emily Behr each recorded hat tricks as well.
Freshman net minder Danica Kristiansen (Lake Forest, Calif.) made six saves in the game, but fell to 0-2 in goal this season.
The Grizzlies return to action in their home opener on March 21, hosting WILA member Fort Lewis at 3 p.m. on ASC Lacrosse Field. The Skyhawks are 2-2 this season and have yet to begin conference play.
