Adams State Business Students Receive Financial Support from Alta Fuels

ALAMOSA (November 12) – Alta Fuels continues their support and encouragement of Adams State University School of Business students by awarding Bryan Ruybal, Olivia DeHerrera, and Kelby Maestas, the Alta Fuels/Alta Convenience Scholarship.

Jim Sammons, president of Alta Fuels, said the company is proud to sponsor these scholarships each year and glad to be assisting local area students who want to further their education at Adams State.  “Some of our brightest employees graduated from the business department at Adams State, so we feel like this is a great partnership we have with the Business School. Partnerships like this are what make local business thrive in our community today and into the future. ”

School of Business Chair Dr. Michael Tomlin said Adams State is proud of the students and their award of Alta Fuels’ scholarships. “We appreciate Alta Fuels and Stores’ generosity and their friendship and commitment to Adams State University, and our community.”

The scholarship is awarded once a year with one scholarship valued at $3000 and two at $2000; the highest GPA is awarded $3000. Requirements for the scholarship include majoring in business, a GPA of 3.0 or above; a graduate of a San Luis Valley high school; and a junior or senior for the award year.
