North Campus Transformation takes shape

Residences at Rex apartments ready for students.

With the fall semester about to begin, construction crews are working intensely to complete a number of campus improvement projects. Most apartments in the Residences at Rex will soon be ready for occupancy. Students scheduled for the renovated south wing of Girault Hall will have temporary housing for a brief period until that project is complete

“Right now we are expecting most students to move into their updated living spaces on schedule,” said Director of Auxiliary Services, Bruce Del Tondo. As a precautionary measure, he is also arranging off campus accommodations for a few Residences at Rex occupants.

Restoration of the Rex Activity Center stucco exterior stucco and the remodel of Coronado D wing were completed over the summer.

By the end of August, the following projects are slated to be complete:

  • Remodel of cafeteria dishroom, servery and dining hall
  • Landscaping, furnishings and lighting on North Campus Green (Stadium Dr.)
  • SUB Loading Dock remodel
  • Monterey Ave. realignment

Monterey Ave. is now open to two-way traffic, but the new section north of Coronado Hall will not be open for a couple weeks. Development of the new soccer/lacrosse field and north Coronado parking lot will continue into the fall, as will completion of the stadium/community building.

Neighborhood meeting

Adams State College invites community members to two information sessions that will provide an update on campus construction, with a focus on status of new campus parking arrangements.

The sessions will be held in the Student Life Center of the ASC Student Union Building, northeast of the Food Court and Grizzly Den convenience store. Two sessions are planned:

  • Mon., Aug. 16, 5:30 p.m., with refreshments
  • Tues., Aug. 17, noon, with refreshments
