City approves street vacations

The Alamosa City Council unanimously approved ASC’s request to vacate portions of Stadium Dr. and Richardson Ave. at its March 17 meeting. This allows the college to proceed with development of the North Campus Green between the new Residences at Rex and the Student Union Building. Construction of a new parking lot at First and Richardson is planned for this summer.

A total of $26 million worth of campus construction and remodeling that began last July will be completed by September

Construction Update

  • Storm sewer work between April 5 and May 7 will make the Rex Parking lot inaccessible. Those who park in the new lot west of the Nielsen Library should plan to walk in front of the library, rather than behind it to the north.
  • Students recently moved into the renovated Coronado A wing, and work began on the D wing. Bids for remodeling of Girault South will be let in late April.
  • Work on the new Nursing Simulation Lab on the second floor of Richardson Hall should be finished soon, in time for the BSN program’s site visit in mid April.
  • Fourth-story framing has begun on the Residences at Rex.
