Climbing Team sends five to nationals

The Adams State Climbing Team recently competed in the USA Climbing Collegiate Regional (Rocky Mountain) Competition and produced an excellent result. Out of the sixteen schools that participated, ASU placed fourth overall in the strongest region in the country for Sport Climbing, and behind only Division 1 universities. Out of the thirteen climbers brought, ASU had five qualify for Nationals next month in Houston, TX. The national qualifiers include Noel Prandoni (Senior), Kari Vanderburg (Grad Student), Piper Meuwissen (Freshman), Logan Hjelmstad (Senior), and Wyatt Moran (Junior).

With the addition of climbing to the 2020 Olympics, the USA Climbing Collegiate Series has grown significantly in its level of competition, and the Adams State Climbing Team has secured its place as a top ten climbing program in the United States and by far the strongest Division II university in the country. The top team of five will be working hard in the next 25 days to produce an exceptional result at Nationals, and will strive to propel Adams State to the top of the podium.
