Our campus is saddened by a weekend tragedy. Dr. Stuart Hilwig, Adams State University professor of history, was killed in an auto accident in northern New Mexico. His wife, Dr. Stephanie Hilwig, Adams State associate professor of sociology, was not in the vehicle; however, their two young children were injured.

Students in classes of either Stuart or Stephanie Hilwig are asked to attend the class meetings, where more information will be provided.

Individual and group counseling sessions are available for any student or employee in need. Pleases contact Counseling Services ext. 587-7746, RH 220.

AS&F would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Hilwig family, friends, colleagues and to his students.   It has been said that “Education is to ignite a flame.” Dr. Hilwig ignited flames in all he came in contact with and will continue to ignite flames in his death.  You will be missed Dr. Hilwig.
