The Adams State baseball team claimed victory in three of four contests against the Metro State Roadrunners here at ASU over the weekend.
The Grizzlies and Roadrunners split their Friday set of games, with Metro taking game one and Adams winning game two.
In the first Friday game, the Grizzlies fell 17-10. The story started early and did not let up the entire game.
The rest of the weekend was much more promising for the Grizzlies as they went on to win the three remaining games.
In Friday’s second contest, the Grizzlies edged out to an 8-6 victory, following a short lightening delay.
Both the of games scheduled for Saturday were rescheduled for Sunday following the snow storm on Friday evening.
In the first game, the Grizzlies dominated the Roadrunners, 17-7.
The second game was much closer as ASU claimed victory by only one run, 2-1.
Following the weekend’s performances, ASU first baseman Drew Wells was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)/Rawlings Player of the Week.
With the three victories, the Grizzlies advance to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in RMAC play. This weekend ASU faces off against Colorado State University-Pueblo on the CSU-Pueblo campus. The four game series begins on Friday.
ASU does not return for home contests until March 4 when they take on Colorado School of Mines.
