The campus got involved this month as they celebrated and gave recognition to Hispanic contributors and celebrated the Hispanic culture. It was a great time for the Hispanic students to take pride in their culture and engage with other students who share traditions with them.
Many events were scheduled throughout the month including art shows, music, and guest speakers. A booth was set up in the SUB that was giving away free Hispanic Heritage Month T-Shirts.
Two guest speakers Deborah Martinez from Pueblo and local Emerita Romero- Anderson spoke September 29, in Nielsen Library. They told stories during Noche de Cuentos. The event was free and biscochitos were provided.
Famous slam poet from California, Mark Gonzales performed Monday, October 12, in the Theatre Building. Mark is very proud that he is a famous skateboarder as well as an artist. His presentation was titled “From Indigenous to Indigo.” Mark’s show was both interesting and intriguing.
On October 15, students enjoyed live tunes by musican Roberto Capocchi joined by the Adams State music students. Other music talents that visited ASC were El Familia Vigil from New Mexico and song writer Cipriano Vigil.
