I found it interesting that for all our emphasis on being an Hispanic Serving Institution, our statutory role and mission re history and culture of the region is a &quot;when feasible&quot; add-on.

&quot;In addition, Adams State College shall offer programs, when feasible, that preserve and promote the unique history and culture of the region.&quot;

I&#039;m assuming that Goal 5 is derived from the &quot;when feasible&quot; directive.

&quot;Goal 5: Promote, Advocate and Celebrate the History and Culture of the San Luis Valley&quot;

I was disappointed when I saw that, for the most part, Goal 5 activity continued what we are currently doing. I had hoped to see a vision that reflected new, proactive initiatives.

The Cultural Heritage programs at Northern New Mexico College provide a model of a successful vision addressing a similar goal.
