On the evening of Thu., April 13, I will be giving a public talk at the planetarium about the Total Solar Eclipse that will cross the U.S. on August 21. First I will explain what a solar eclipse is and why there are different kinds. Second, I will show you where to get more information about solar eclipses in general – when and where they will occur, how long they will last, etc – and I’ll highlight all the total solar eclipses visible from the U.S. for the next 25 years. Finally, we’ll look at the circumstances of this year’s eclipse, where you have to go to see it, what to expect, and how to observe it safely.
The same program will be repeated at 7:00 and 7:45.
