So… I have only tried golf 2 times since I have gotten my golf clubs which only consisted of the driving range and the putting thing. But I pretty much have decided I am not very good at golf. I try hitting to the hill with the 1 marked on it, and I can barely hit it that far. Then Matt asks me if he could try to see if they are good clubs and he hits the ball to the hill marked with a 3 on it. I don’t know the distance, but geeze! Here I thought I bought some cheap golf clubs, but in all reality, it was the person behind the clubs. I keep hoping that if I keep at it, maybe I will get to the hill with the 2 on it… but who knows, that could be years away. Thank heavens Matty hasn’t given up on teaching me yet!

Gotta love knowing that your friends understand how you feel… because you made them that way. I LOVE YOU GUYS! This is one of the downfalls to school. You sit in class next to those students who are coughing and you are praying to yourself that their germs will stay on their desk. What you don’t realize is that you may be sitting in the desk of the one who was sneezing and coughing. This is why I have learned to keep a trusty bottle of hand sanitizer in my book bag.

For Spring Break, my boyfriend Matt and I traveled back to wonderful Craig. Don’t ask me how we left 50 degree weather to go play in the snow. But surprisingly enough, the weather was beautiful. I figured I would post a few pictures from our trip. Going back “home” has its ups and downs. Its great getting to see everyone, but at the same time, everyone wants to see you. When you think of break, you think of sleeping in until noon, having your mom make you breakfast and seeing old friends. What always happens with us though, is that whenever we go home, my family wants to visit, his family wants to visit. The kids I used to babysit want to play everyday. You want to eat at all of your favorite restaurants, and the time just seems to fly by. Matt’s grandma always has a list of things for us to do while we are there because she can’t “figure out how to use the printer/ipod”. It doesn’t matter that we have shown her how to do it 500 times. The best thing about going “home” for Spring Break, is knowing that you get to leave all that chaos of family drama/to do lists and you are able to go back to your HOME. It’s wonderful how quickly Alamosa becomes home.

I love knowing that I’m old enough that my mom doesn’t care if I get trashed in front of her at the bar. Actually it’s rather funny because I took a shot with her… weird! haha

Matty bought the new Droid. Needless to say, after this purchase, I didn’t speak to him for most of the trip due to him being attached to this new “toy”.

Sorry this is such a small photo. It’s from Matty’s phone lol… and yes, I was in line at midnight for this movie. I never felt so old in my life until I heard 3 little middle school girls started screaming when the Wal-Mart guy pulled out the movies from the back room. (Secretly I was screaming on the inside… lol)

After reading several of my friend’s blogs I really wish I had the chance to worry about flexi dollars, doing laundry on campus, and about my roommate bringing boys to my room! Don’t get me wrong I love being able to play Rock Band as loud as I want and I LOVE having my dogs, but there are definitely days when I wish I would have had the opportunity to be the crazy college student on campus. I like having my girls during the day, but when I get home it’s the boyfriend time and sometimes you feel locked in.

If you any of you have read Anthony’s blogs, Senate received a student complaint on smoking across campus. Taking the actions needed, I contacted our ASC Police Department (ASCPD) and was quickly told that they had other issues to worry about other than enforcing the Colorado Smoking Law. I agree that the ASCPD should be worrying about drugs and other issues on campus than worrying about whether or not there are students smoking within the 15 foot distance from the main entrance way to a building.

AS&F decided to host a forum concerning the issue. We were curious to know whether or not other students felt that smoking was an issue on campus. I posted an announcement on Portal and almost instantaneously we had an uproar. Students immediately thought that we were trying to move to a smoke free campus, we had petitions being passed around and I received about 20 emails that first day about how ignorant it was to move to a smoke free campus (which was not my intentions at all).

We held two forums, one on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday. Students came to the forum upset that we “were moving to a smoke free campus” when we were curious if there was a problem. In the end the students have collectively decided that we need to enforce the State Law and to make smokers aware of the law through an email. All in all, I feel like it was a great experience because we have shown students that they are the ones with the ability to make a change on campus and that all the power is within them. Because after all, without the students there wouldn’t be an Adams State College.

I am so proud of our students.

This year, I have decided to try to learn how to play golf. It’s so funny because when my boyfriend decides he is going to learn something new, he buys the most expensive thing so he can become “the best”. So this year I have decided that my skin pigment is becoming too white (I’m half Hispanic) and I need to be outside instead of in the air conditioning. Also, my friend is getting married this summer and it’s pretty ridiculous for me to get a spray tan! So I made the comment to him that I would try to learn how to play golf this summer and I would like him to teach me.

So last weekend we made a quick trip to Denver, and definitely got hooked up at Dick’s Sporting Goods. I got a whole new set of golf clubs for $91 and a new bag for $50. The campus offers discount tickets for the golf course here, so I will only be about $500 in the whole for learning a new sport. Now that I’m looking at the numbers, a spray tan is cheaper… dang! lol

Some days it’s really frustrating, and then others it’s great because it feels like you’re waking up to a crappy morning and then BAM it’s Friday. Do you want to get your party mode on? Yes please! So much has been going on, but mostly it consists of work study, class, senate and then babysitting. Talk about a boring life!

Yes sure it’s a take home final, but I am a little OCD and tend to over analyze the questions. There are ten questions and by the time I am done with this final, it will be over ten pages long. I’m sure I could just write a few sentences and be perfectly fine, but I know I can’t do that! Dang you teachers who think take home finals are better than in class assignments.

So, thanks to Farmville and Facebook, I have procrastinated all my projects and papers until the end of the semester. And then to top that off, I have finals this week! So I am frantically trying to get my “stuff” together in order to pass my classes. I always end up getting so upset with myself at the end because I always start off the beginning of the semester in a more organized fashion. I start off reading the chapters I need, being prepared ahead of class, and I usually start study groups. As the semester goes on, I think it won’t be a big deal to miss a chapter and I tell myself I will just take better notes in class. I should know that after 15 years of going to school, that I shouldn’t learn to procrastinate that first chapter, because then it just goes downhill from there. The plus side to this is that I have learned how to write a 10 page paper in 2 hours, and have learned to make a Powerpoint presentation in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I don’t know if that is something I can put on a resume. So hopefully I can just get through these next 3 days and still have a bit of sanity left.
