-The employee mail server will be down for roughly 2 hours as we reconfigure and increase storage to the system. During this time, employees will not be able to send or receive email.

-There will be brief, intermittent outages to a few remaining network switches throughout campus that we were not able to upgrade as part of last week’s maintenance.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, January 24, 2013

The following maintenance activities will take place tonight during our normally scheduled maintenance window beginning at 9:00 PM:

-There will be brief (5-10 minute) outages to various segments of our campus network as we perform upgrades to the networking switches. We will begin these updates in the Residence Halls first, and then move to employee buildings and areas. During these brief outages, all network services including wireless Internet access will be interrupted, but should be restored without the user needing to take action.

-Employee Windows computers will receive critical security and Operating System patches including updates to Windows, Thunderbird, Firefox, Flash, Shockwave and VLC. Employees are encouraged to log out and leave their computers on overnight tonight in order to allow the updates to install during non-work hours.

-Very brief outages will be experienced on the campus Content Management System (Bricolage), the campus LDAP server and web database server as we migrate these services to a different VM host. User impact should be minimal.

Computing Services thanks you for your patience and understanding as we perform these critical upgrades and maintenance activities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ASU Computing Services Help Desk at x7741 or via email at computingservices@adams.edu

Thanks and have a great day,

Phishing Attacks on Campus- Be Safe!

Adams State University employees and students have recently been heavily targeted by phishing scams. Phishing occurs when scammers attempt to trick you into giving out your personal information, such as your username and password or your bank account information.

Adams State University will NEVER ask for your username and password via email. If the email asks you to click a link to verify your account or respond with your account information, it’s a phish!

Can you identify phishing scams? Take a few minutes to play the phishing game and find out!

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, January 17, 2013

The following maintenance activities will be taking place today, January 17th:

-There may be brief interruptions of service to our campus voicemail system this afternoon (Thursday) as we work with the vendor to install a fax card into the system. Typically we try to perform this type of maintenance after hours, but because we need to have the vendor on-site to assist with the install, we are forced to do the upgrade during their working hours.

-Beginning at 9:00 PM and lasting roughly 2 hours, all Banner systems including Forms, Self-service Banner, School services and Banner printing will be down as we install a time-sensitive patch required for the printing of Employee W2 forms.

We apologize for any interruption these maintenance activities may cause, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to strive to provide highly available and reliable services to our students, faculty and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the ASU Computing Services Help Desk at x7741 or contact us via email at computingservices@adams.edu

Thanks and welcome back to a new semester!
