Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, September 29th, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM during our normally scheduled maintenance window:

  • TEC Classroom and Employee computers (excluding MACs) will receive criticial security patches beginning at 9 PM. Employees are encouraged to leave their computers turned on, but not logged into as they leave work today. This allows the updates to happen overnight which will minimize any impacts on performance the installation may cause. If employees are unable to leave their computers on overnight, the updates will install once the computer is powered on, and will remain fully usable during the installation process.
  • Employee email services, the ASC Blogs site, and the campus web database will experience an outage of roughly one hour from 9 PM until 10 PM as we install security updates on these systems.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

The following maintenance activities will take place tonight beginning at 9 PM during our regularly scheduled maintenance window:

-All Banner services including Banner Web will be down for roughly an hour starting at 9 PM for the installation of critical security updates.

-The old DNS servers that have recently been replaced will be taken completely out of service after 9 PM. No system downtime or end user impact is anticipated for this activity.

-At 9 PM, critical security updates will be installed on our Microsoft servers which include the print server and the Active Directory servers. Printing and authentication services to all Windows computers will be unavailable for roughly 30 minutes during this time.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, September 15th

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9:00 PM during our normally scheduled maintenance window:

  • All networking services may experience an outage beginning at 9:00 PM for roughly 1 hour as we do maintenance on our campus DNS/DHCP systems.
  • Internal Banner maintenance activities will take place, however, no production systems should be affected.

Computing Services Maintenance for Thursday, 9/8/11

The following maintenance activities will take place beginning at 9 PM:

  • All campus hosted web services and web servers will be down for roughly 2 hours as a critical security package is installed.
  • The new redundant web servers will be tested and put into production during the web services outage.
  • Campus LDAP services will be down for roughly 1 hour due to security maintenance.
