The Adventure Leadership and Programing (ALP) Minor in HPPE

Adams State Adventure Programs in taking applications and will begin selecting candidates for enrollment in the Fall 2012 class in the ALP minor.  Haven’t heard about it?  The ALP minor is a series of field based courses that teach the core concepts of running programs and trips for Adventure Programs.  Students enrolling in the minor are committed to an adventure based leadership curriculum that teaches skill sets like expeditioning, travel in 3rd and 4th class terrain, rock climbing anchors and sites, mountain biking trip management, the climbing wall instructor course; all in the first semester.  The second semester builds on the previous courses by adding winter travel and camping which includes an avalanche 1 course, ice climbing anchors, and snow caving.  Also in the spring semester are the Wilderness First Aid course and Challenge Course Instructor followed in May by our Snow mountaineering segment.  For more information check out our website and feel free to contact Mick Daniel at mick_daniel@adams.edu.
